Job Satisfaction: Why it is Significant to both Employees and Employers

Employers need to prioritize the concept of job satisfaction among their employees. Satisfied workers are more likely to be of an advantage to their companies than those who are not. They have the company at heart with no need of reminding them about what should be done and how to do it. Therefore they are workers who do their best to achieve the best results in their fields.

What is job satisfaction?

It is the level of contentment employees feel with their jobs. It acts as a good indicator in evaluating your employee engagement strategy. You should note that people’s feelings have a direct impact on your company’s performance. They also have an impact on your staff retention and reputation as an employer within the business community.

The benefits of job satisfaction

For the good of our businesses and employees, it is significant to have contented workers in your company. Dissatisfied employees are more of a burden to a company than of use. But satisfied employees are vital in business as discussed below:

1. Increase in profits

Keeping satisfied employees leads to higher sales. If employees are unhappy at work, the chances are high that it will affect their interactions with the customers. But if they are satisfied, they will have a positive attitude towards customers hence an increase sales. For example, front desks, specifically, cannot afford to have dissatisfied employees. They have to ensure that every word they say and every campaign they work on maintains and attracts customers.

On the other hand, satisfied workers lower costs in a company. For example, it reduces the defect rate in manufacturing and bad code in software development. Even in indirect jobs, low satisfaction can cause errors in the workflow. It is why employee satisfaction is vital for customer-centric companies.

2. Increased productivity

Besides, in a positive work environment, employees are more likely to bring their best to work every day. For example, the Centre for Competitive Advantage in the Global Economy found out that happy employees are 20% more productive than unhappy employees on average. And they are likely to look after themselves and address stress, burnout, and health issues before it impacts work.

3. Reduction in turnover

Additionally, turnover can be good for business, as it brings fresh talent into the organization. But at times, it is not good to experience it in a company. You risk losing top talent you have trained over the years. Also, this talent takes with it tribal knowledge once it leaves the company, which could toughen up the competition for your products and service offerings. Therefore, a satisfied workforce is less likely to quit.

4. Loyalty

And lastly, when employees feel there is a growth path for them, they get satisfied. It encourages them to support the company’s goals and objectives. They do it by convincing their friends and relatives about the good nature of the organization, which helps spread organizational goodwill.

In summary, companies that have adopted job satisfaction stand to benefit a lot compared to those that have not. It is significant in keeping a workforce that is contented and happy. Therefore it is not easy to keep track of employee satisfaction unless the company adopts modern software.
